Oregon Thunder Eggs - Uncut
Thundereggs,
often called geodes, are found in many areas of the
world. The most notable are from eastern Oregon,
which is the source for our thunder eggs.
"Geode" is a misnomer. The word geode is a name
for any rock with a hollow area in it. Some
thunder eggs are hollow, making them geodes, but they
often don't have a hollow space. Instead, the
inside of thunder eggs is usually filled with agate,
jasper, or even opal.
Thunder eggs are Oregon's state stone.
